Boba Mahjong Grande Production Progress

Hi everyone!
Just a quick update on where things stand with Boba Mahjong Grande.
Things have been a little slower than usual over the past couple of weeks due to the post–Chinese New Year period, when many manufacturers are catching up on orders and schedules. The good news is that we’ve now received the quotes and confirmations we needed, so we’re moving forward again.
🎨 Graphic Files & Pre-Production
Next week, we’ll begin sending the finalized graphic files to the factory. Our goal is to have all digital graphic files confirmed by the end of the month. Once those are approved, we’ll move into the pre-production phase.
During pre-production, the factory will produce either photos of the samples or actual pre-production copies for us to review. This step is important because it allows us to double-check colors, materials, and print quality before giving the final approval.

After the pre-production samples are confirmed, we’ll officially move into full production.
As always, thank you for your patience and support while we work through each step carefully. Our goal is to make sure the final version of Boba Mahjong Grande looks and feels as good as it possibly can.

Pledge Manager Progress & Packaging Decisions

Hi everyone!
Quick progress update on where things stand:
📋 Pledge Manager Status
I’ve officially submitted the pledge manager for review. The review process usually takes around two days. After that, I expect we’ll need about another week to finish sorting out details and double-checking everything.
Once that’s done, we’ll run a smoke test. This means about 5% of backers will receive the survey first so we can catch any major issues before sending it out to everyone. If all goes smoothly, we’ll then release the pledge manager to all backers before mid-February.

📦 Boba Mahjong Grande Packaging Decision
After a lot of thought (and your feedback!), we’ve made a final decision on the Boba Mahjong Grande box designs:
👉 We will be keeping both the original design and the store-front design.
I genuinely like them both, so… let’s do it. 😄
You’ll be able to choose your preferred version in the pledge manager. For clarity:

Box Design Update (and Thank You for Speaking Up!)

Hi everyone,
First, thank you so much for all the comments and feedback on the new box design. I’ve read through them carefully, and it’s clear that many backers are not happy with the change.
And you’re absolutely right to feel that way.
Cover art is a big deal. It’s not a small tweak. It changes the identity of the game. I got excited and eager to use the new artwork, but I should have slowed down and asked for everyone’s input before introducing such a major packaging change.
This is not just my project. This is our project, and you trusted me with it. I truly appreciate that trust, and I take it seriously.
So for this project and this print run, we will move forward with the original box design. If the budget allows, I’ll explore making the new design available as an optional choice as well.
Thank you again for caring so much about Boba Mahjong and for speaking up. The passion in this community is genuinely one of the best parts of being an indie creator, and your feedback helps make the project better.
Now I’ll go back to working on the pledge manager… right away.

New Box Design Reveal! (Pocket + Grande) 📦✨

Hi Boba Mahjong Fans and Supporters!
As promised, we’ve been continuing to polish and improve Boba Mahjong as much as we can. The campaign may be over, but the work (and the fun) definitely isn’t! 😄
We’ve redesigned the packaging for both the Pocket Edition and the Grande Edition, and both now feature new artwork created specifically for this project.
This is the original design.
Here is the new design.
LEFT = Boba Mahjong Grande (2–4 Players)
This is the larger Grande Edition box, designed for players who want the full 2–4 player experience with extra content and components.
It uses the charming Store Front artwork, the same scene featured on the playmat.
Bright storefront colors, menu board, boba drinks, and adorable characters that set the mood instantly. This box is meant to look like something you’d proudly display on your shelf, and it immediately tells people: “This is the full bobalicious experience!”
RIGHT = Boba Mahjong Pocket Edition
This is the smaller Pocket Edition box, compact, cute, and perfect for travel, gifts, and quick game nights.
It uses the adorable In-Store artwork, the cozy café interior scene.
It has a smaller footprint with the same bright, friendly vibe. Easy to pack, easy to bring to cafés or board game meetups. We love how it feels like a “little sibling” to Grande, the two boxes look different, but clearly belong to the same Boba Mahjong family.
We hope you love the new design as much as we do!

The Boba Mahjong Grande campaign has officially come to an end, and I want to start with a huge thank you to every single one of you who backed, shared, commented, and followed along.
Running a crowdfunding campaign in December, especially during the holidays, is honestly one of the most challenging times of the year. It’s traditionally one of the least favorable months for crowdfunding, so your decision to support us during this time truly means a lot. Thank you for being part of our three-week campaign in December. Your encouragement and trust made all the difference.
🗂️ What’s Next?
📦 Pledge Manager (BackerKit)
We’ll begin preparing the pledge manager on BackerKit in early January.
It should be ready for you in February or March, where you’ll be able to:
- Confirm your address
- Select add-ons
- Finalize any remaining choices
You’ll receive an email when it’s ready. No action needed until then.
🎨 Art, Design & Production Timeline
Now that the campaign is complete, we’ll move into the next phase:
🎨 Finalize artwork and fine-tune graphic design. As always, we aim to make the final product even better than what you saw during the campaign. At the very least… we’ll try our absolute best. 😄
🏭 Production. Once final quantities are confirmed, we expect to begin production around April–May.
🚚 Fulfillment. Current estimate for fulfillment is July.
Based on our two fulfillment projects completed in 2025, even in today’s chaotic global environment, we were able to deliver successfully. With that experience behind us, we’re confident we can deliver Boba Mahjong Grande on time in 2026.
